I wear the USAK casual in canoes, kayaks, while irrigating, and even swimming.
Wearing it now as I type this. Just got done planting some trees in it.

I have been serious about wanting a kayak or canoe... we will see about the kilt... there are lots of river routes in Texas worthy of day trips and weekend trips... I'll heee haw a bit before I will pull that trigger... I like to read up and check out the options.. due to being 265 lbs my options are kind of limited with the kayak... but not with a canoe.. but I want easy handling on land also transportation.. as well as water..

Any touring kayak will easily handle that weight and more. In the past I've dealt with Austin Canoe & Kayak by mail order for parts fitting out my yak and would recommend them. Even from Texas to Canada it was cheaper and easier to find the parts I needed. Although you'll no doubt have an outfitter closer to you, you could find that offers rentals or one way day trips. Renting is how I discovered akyaking was for me and also when it's 50 - 60F out you don't want a sit-on-top and that puddle you'll sit in. For those who are so inclined there are several books out there about building your own cedarstrip or plywood canoe or kayak.

Yeah, I've tried canoeing kilted -quite enjoyable in a lake. Did so in a kneeling position as opposed to sitting as it was less revealing. Enjoyed landing some bass while kilted too. Canoeing barefooted makes it a pleasure stepping in and out of canoe. If found wading while kilted especially relaxing.
