Beautiful pipe Vespa. You really know how to make a guy cringe talking about putting bubbles in that thing. If you ever feel that you could part with it, please keep me in mind. Great photo by the way!

Haha, I thought that might raise the ire of some on this thread. Ok ok, I promise not to put bubbles in it!

I think you may be thinking of a calabash pipe, used in numerous incarnations of Holmes on the stage and in film. Watson, in the stories, mentioned that Holmes had "a litter" of pipes scattered around the mantelpiece.. including a cherry wood, a black clay and a brier. So really the field is wide open for a Holmes pipe.
    Great pictures all!

I don't have any pics of me in a kilt smoking a pipe yet, but when I do, I'll post them. I have a Savenelli that I like a lot. I want to get a churchwarden or something similar to smoke at ren faires because they would be period proper but my tobaccoist doesn't know where to get them. Any ideas, other that e-bay, would be greatly appresiated.

Take a look at Smoking Pipes and Cup O' Joes. They've both got a great selection and great prices.

    Lancer,

Another good place to find some good prices on pipes is Payless Pipes.com. They are actually selling a Savenelli churchwarden rustic right now for a great price. There are other pipes available in this style as well on this site. I've included a picture of the Savenelli and the link for the site below. Hope this helps.
