Keep in mind he's in Scotland. So, the sealskin issue does not apply.

It does now, since the ban goes into effect next month, I think.
Convener, Georgia Chapter, House of Gordon (Boss H.O.G.)

I meant to say "atm" at the end of that. However, it didn't affect him at time of purchase was my point...

Good to know, just curious if it were one of the current sellers there. I thought I saw a faux seal-skin sporran there one day but not sure if I remember correctly or not.

General Purpose
My general purpose sporran is similar to the one that my friend Jim is wearing in the middle and it works great. This picture is from a wedding that we attended, and while he is not as formal as the semi-formal or the full mask sporrans the black casual holds its own.

Will you show me your favorites? It can be just one, or it can be many, it is up to you.
There is a current thread by James MacMillan- What makes the perfect sporran? that shows there are truly different strokes for different folks. Show me yours so I can get an idea of what works for who and what path I might want to take in the future.
I am a newbie here and admit it freely. I have searched and have not found a thread or gallery like this and would really like your pictures and input. If this is a duplicate, I am deeply sorry. Thank you for the help and if there exists a thread like this in the archives any mod can feel free to delete this one and send me a link.
My favourite, kangaroo fur sporran and matching plaited kangaroo leather belt and sporran strap.

So a chain can thrash a kilt, does a leather strap do the same? What is the difference in a leather strap or just a belt for the sporran? Can you use a longer belt that hangs right?

The concern with chain is sharp metal edges. Commercial sporran belts should have nice smooth buckles. If you repurpose a belt, just make sure there are no rough or sharp edges on any of the metal bits. Many here have found or made long, thin leather belts from woman's clothing, or dog leashes, horse tack, etc. Or from scratch, using belt leather and findings (from Tandy or other hobby supply). It should be a few inches longer than your waist measure in order to hang correctly.
