    Scottish Arhery Set

These are R.R. McIan Prints and are more romantic than Historically accurate. In my opinion they do pose relevance to the perception of past Highland Culture in the 19th century.

The print of the McKinnon is a reasonably accurate depiction of Highland dress in the early Victorian era. While McKinnon might be a tad overdressed for an afternoon at the butts, he is none-the-less dressed in the style and fashion of the era.

I am enjoying these pictures... first of all... man the Duff can fish... thats a good one he has....lol... second observation... the badger sporrans are pretty good sized, they are about as long as the horsehair sporrans... its interesting to see the styles and how some have changed so little over the years.. as with the accessories...

I would guess that's an Atlantic salmon...about 15 pounds. Not all that big but respectable.

It took MacLeay four years to compile his portraits of the highanders, which was finally published in 1870. While some of the subjects may have been posed with props (MacPherson is holding Bonnie Prince Charlie's targe) they are absolutely accurate in the details of mid-Victorian Highland dress.

This conversation-piece shows John, fourth Duke of Atholl and his family, painted in 1780 by David Allan.
