Having myself served in the lower Scottish Courts (District, Magistrates, or Justice of the Peace courts) for many years I wore a business suit, it was only within the final six years of my court service that I increasingly began to wear a kilt to the office and in court and even then it was almost always a solid black kilt with black hose, white shirt, black tie and black Argyle jacket, and on a very rare occasion a Black Watch kilt. Anything which favoured one clan or locality would have been unacceptable.
I agree entirely - my point exactly. Even if he wanted to, he just couldn't do it.
