    Non-piper wearing pipers' hose?

Hi guys. I got a bargain on ebay on pipers' hose. They're nice and thick... very good quality and would keep my legs nice and warm - as well as looking better than standard white hose (and a lot better than cream!)

Would it be ok for me to wear pipers' hose to occasions even though I'm not a piper or in a pipe band (though - I once was )... as I realise pipers would only wear them whilst piping.

Just incase anyones confused I mean these type of hose:

    Cheers,
    Paul

Sure wear what you want as long as you are happy.
To be honest most kilt wearers wouldn't know the difference from one pair of hoes and another.

I don't think you'll get assaulted, but there are some colored hoses out there around the same price.

Some even swear by those for their comfort and fit...especially those of us with larger legs.

    Thumbs up

Why not? I'm not a piper, and I wear them a lot.

    Not white of course!

They are only called piper hose because they appeal to pipe bands because a band can get them in volume and if a pair gets old they are easily matched with a new pair the and with band.
They are certainly not just for pipers. I'm a piper but even if i wasn't i'd wear these. I have about 4 different pairs in different colors and they are great.
    Comfortable too.

I have a pair of lovat green pipers hose and they are one of my favorite pair of kilt hose. I really like the thickness and texture of the fold over tops. BTW I don't play the pipes.

I have multiple pairs in multiple colors including piper's white, and I am not a piper. I only wear the white ones with a white shirt, tie, and dress Argyll, however, (I can hear Jock and Mac o Rath lunging for their keyboards already) as I think they only really look good with the dressier stuff, although this goes against tradition, as I am sure many here will be expressing shortly. These hose, in various colors, are my favourite hose of all in my collection.

Not sure what price you got them for on ebay but they are readily had at several online vendors for $30US or less (my favorite below)

The white are 100% acrylic while all the colors are supposed to be 70-80% wool.

Well alright, the truth of the matter is; if you like them, then wear them.

They are not for pipers only. That is an industry term...
    DON'T wear white, wear color.
