I watched the tutorial and discussed offline with a very helpful female member. Her suggestion was brilliant. Instead of bending over at the waist, lower yourself into the seat by bending at the knees, sweep, and when your rear hits the seat slide back into the seat. No more problems.
Yup! I would watch my hubby sit and every time he had issues, it was because he was bending over. He was so obsessed with trying to reach behind him and sweep the pleats and also because he wasn't lowering himself the way csbdr mentioned, that he was raising the back hem too high and it was bunching up under him.

It's also the same if you try to bend over at the waist to pick something up off the ground. Use your knees to lower yourself instead (just watch out for the hem of your kilt when you go to stand up if you squatted that low).
