Just the same I think I will be satisfied... quality does not dissapoint.
You can get a quality kilt in lesser yardage that sits at your natural waist the way a traditional kilt sits. I have a "Casual" kilt from Burnetts and Struth in Barrie Ont. and it sits at the natural waist the big difference is that it is made of 5 yards not 8 yards so not as many pleats and not quite as deep. The same can be said of my XMarkstheScot tartan from Canadian Casual Kilts it's a 5 yard kilt but sits at my natural waist not my jean waist.

See this I did not know.... but I am glad I do. I am thinking that i could have a 5 yard down in either black watch or Gunn tartan (they are very similar) would think I'd like if it sat at my natural waist.

I have four, four yard box pleated kilts and they are the ones I wear almost all the time. I have even considered selling the 8 yard knife pleated kilts I have, but they are such wonderful things, that so far I can't bring myself to do it, even though they hardly every get worn.

I suggest buying the best thing you can afford. Hand made, tailored for you kilts are truly wondrously marvelous things.

I definitely get more orders for my 5-yard Knife-Pleated Kilt (What I call the 'Knife-Pleated Standard on my website.) than any other style of kilt. All my kilts, regardless of pleating style, are made traditionally. As has often been said on this forum, what defines the level of formality in a Highland outfit is how the kilt is accessorized.
