This is pretty much my first week of being out and about with my (utili)kilt as well and like you said, I was expecting a few more comments! Friends walking around with me have noticed quite the handful of stares though :P Now it's only a matter of time until I get another to and can ditch the jeans for great lengths of time!

And the night dreaming .. and every half hour checking of this here forum -- and counting down the minutes to I get off work till I get home and get kilted. And making up excuses to go out and 'pick up a few things at the store' whilst kilted.
Tomorrow a visit to the Flight 93 memorial in Shanksville PA will be on the list of places to go. And I will be ... oh you know......

I wore my kilt yesterday for the first time.. in the small town community, I have called home, for the last 10 or so years.. this area is definately Bible Belt.. .. where the different communities are distinct by the various denomination of churches.
I expected to get the comments.. or even the eyes.. but what I got.. was not expected... in the local grocery store.. I was approached by a woman who asked the reason for the kilt.. I replied.. sometimes you have to respect your ancestory.. and she tells me. she understands.. since she is the vice president of Clan MacLellean Society and had just returned from "the Gathering".. where she had the pleasure of visiting Parliment, as one of the 400 guests.. during the Gathering events.. you never know who lives in your community... LOL.

Congratulations on your first week. From the sounds of it, you should start planning on expanding your closet, you're going to need the space!

Today whilst at the pool supply store I got an interesting comment; from the store owner himself. Steve has seen me kilted many times, so he's really not that shocked when I show up kilted anymore; even kilted on the motorcycle is not that surprising, but today I guess I was a touch eccentric even for me; my kilted Hawaiian outfit. SWK Irish saffron, orange A shirt, Tommy Bahama silk Hawaiian shirt, bottle green hose and orange crocks, and of course my normal mirror (chrome) helmet.
Steve's comment? " Those things must be comfortable, you wear them enough. Do they make them in solid blue?" (his store uniform is blue shorts and a white polo or a Hawaiian shirt.) You never know where your next "recruit" will come from! ith:

Congrats I as well have just completed my first week kilted. I wore mine to the Highland Games last weekend and the everyday since. Only time in pants has been at work as a barista. One of the shift leaders said she thought I should wear it for work. (Dress code is solid black or tan pants and my kilt is solid black) I'm still feeling it out on the work front as the store manager is a bit of a control freak but is never around so I may wear it a day he isn't working.
Helped a buddy move yesterday and only comments I recieved were to stay away from the fan and that if we were both going up the stairs with stuff he was going first lol.
I'm already jonesing for an actual tartan kilt now.

Wore mine on a visit to the flight 93 memorial yesterday. Weather was great.
A later visit to walmart yielded nothing more than total happiness as I felt the cool breeze around my legs.

You and me both, brother. Gotta get that tartan so I can be extra handsome when I escort my wife to some upcoming events. Highland days at Fort Ligonier here we come. Christmas parties, look out!
