Bob had given me a quote for an 8-yard 16 oz. Marton Mills kilt some months ago. When I contacted him a few days ago, he informed me that, as NorCalPiper said, he was no longer trading in kilts, but referred me to Tartanweb.com and gave me the name of a contact there.
From the description, it seems to be the same type of kilt (i.e., same weight and mill, etc.) that I'd purchased from him through eBay in the past. At least I hope it will be! I'll post photos and a review when I receive the kilt.
I'm hopeful, as I've read good reviews of Tartanweb kilts posted on this forum.

Sorry to hear that Bob is out of the business---he did great work at a reasonable price and timely delivery. His recommendation of Tartanweb is probably a good one. I have two Tartanweb (Scottishkilts) 8 yard machine kilts and they fit well, are well built, and came at a very reasonable price, even considering that one of them was a Rare HoS tartan. I have another on order right now, this one in an even rarer tartan that required custom weaving, and it also was priced exceptionally reasonably (same price as regular readily available tartan). Cannot wait for it to arrive.
Bob's work will be missed.

Is Tartanweb the same company as Scotweb?

I don't believe that Tartanweb and Scotweb are related... Nick can answer that for sure, but I'm fairly certain that Tartanweb and Scottishkilts.net and Irishkilts.net are affiliated, if not one and the same.
Also, I'm pretty sure that Bob Chalmers worked for Tartanweb.

Scotweb is NOT related to Tartanweb or Scottishkilts, although Scotweb does or used to have a wide series of related websites like kiltstore, etc... Their alternative sites, however, are all branded visibly on the site as one of the Scotweb network, while Tartanweb and Scottishkilts appear to be entirely different sites until you get further into the process of ordering.

Rocky,
The one that you have on the rack, is it the brown Brave heart tweed? How much is it?
cheers,

Sorry to hear that Bob has gone out of the kilt business - glad I got my Braveheart from him when I did. ![Crying or Very sad](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_cry.gif)

...I was wondering if anyone knows where I could order a kilt in the Braveheart Tartan.
[/QUOTE]
Hmmm...I've got about 5 yards of the Braveheart (movie) tartan that I got for a great kilt but never seem to fnd the excuse to wear. Now I'm thinking of perhaps using some of it for a casual kilt (its double wide). Maybe one of Matt's 4 yard box pleats?
