    You'll find many on this site don't send a kilt to a dry cleaner. Instead they clean it themselves. Read this post on cold water washing:

    If the tag says to machine wash, I assume it's an acrylic (standard) model, correct? Just do what the tag says- throw it in the washer and hang dry it. The pleats will stay in just fine. I have done it with mine on two occasions. The acrylic is machine washable.

    I wash my Stillwaters regulary in cold water with either woolite or liquid laundry soap and hang them up to dry and run an iron over them
