Walk tall and act confident and you will have less hassle also wear a tartan kilt with a sporran that will not be mistaken for a skirt!!

Any negative comments will be outweighed twice over by interest from the girls.
Think up a few snappy answers to "the question", mine is usually, "why do you think it comes down to my knees!"
There will always be a few smart a"" comments flung at you, there's no way to stop them. I've just always gone, "yeah, yeah, whatever" or something similar.
After a few days, when you've got a group of girls on your tail, the numbskulls will suddenly want to become your new best friend, mark my words!

Not ALWAYS Bruce: it sometimes takes them a bit to understand "confidence+easy access=happy women"...
When they DO realize it though, the looks are priceless!

My son Ben has worn his kilt to the eighth grade at a very large public high school in Iowa (Southeast Polk) twice. He has not worn it to ninth grade yet, but yesterday he told me that he may look at the ren-faire for a black and gold kilt (school colors) to wear for homecoming (soon). All I can think of is Loud McCloud, but maybe there is another ?
It takes a confident young man. Don't worry, chin up, chest out, head high. You can do it.

My nephew informed me last night that he is going to wear his American Heritage kilt to school. I directed him to the forum and told him to send us a report. I also told him as I'll say to you, stand tall, walk proud, ignore the idiots and the rest will take care of itself.

Sticks and stones young man, sticks and stones. Keep your chin up and know that the ladies are digging it. Keep it real!

A personal welcome to the ranks of kilted high school students, from one of your own!!!
While I haven't worn mine to school yet (too hot!), I wore it countless times last year. Some comments were positive. Use these to keep your confidence up! Some were negative. I like this one: You're just jealous your girlfriend doesn't look this good in a skirt! (or for the females, try replacing the girl friend bit with "you"). Usually works, and if it doesn't, give it no mind whatsoever!
Another section of the comments were stereotypical, i.e, "Do you play the bigpipes?", "What do you wear underneath?", "Why do you wear it at all?", "Isn't is cold?", etc. answer to your own taste.
The vast majority were simply strange. "Is it a part of your religion?" (no), etc. These I simply laughed (politely) and explained. Most people were totally accepting of it afterward.
The biggest thing you really have to check beforehand is your school's dress code, as I'm sure some would call it inappropriate. In these cases, you can try to appeal, but there may not be much to do.
Once you have it cleared, go for it! I guarantee that if no one likes it and everyone makes fun of you for it, no one will remember in a week anyway. Trust me; it's so worth it!
09 pride!!!!! (from a fellow senior)

My son Ben is getting a loud McLoud kilt to wear for homecoming (school colors are black/gold). The yellow is not a perfect match, but it is close. I think it will be interesting to see what happens. Be yourself, and be confident.
