    Ya, I can tell there's a higher pitched sound along with what I was hearing. It reminds me of those electronic dog whistles, or those new sonic things dentists use. There's some sound that you can hear, but most of it is more of a feeling than a sound.

    These were short bursts of sound.
    I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

    Holy Cow! The same thing happened to my husband and I while we were driving through Arizona/Utah, we actually hit an owl! We were just barely moving though, so no harm done, but we were completely dumbstruck, it was such an odd experience! I guess I always assumed that they were more graceful fliers
