Super pics, Greg, looks like a good time had by all.
Well done on spotting the Riverkilt lookalike.
Perhaps it is an illusion of your zoom lens, but those two photographers do look dangerously close to the caber tosser.

Excellent pics. Thanks for sharing. I've noticed in the past several years an odd representation of highland culture at the games with men wearing or just carrying all manner of bladed weaponry. Medieval continental swords, fantasy daggers, viking blades, etc. It makes very little sense to me and I'm an avid sword collector. I get the dirk, baskethilted broadsword, two-handed claymore and even the Lochaber axe at the games as they relate specifically to Scottish history. I don't get the other stuff. Axe and knife throwing is fun no matter the event.

The bizarre reenactors are the Romano British Celtic reenactment group known as the Tribes of the Blue Rose. Interesting but out there. The other weapon laden group do weapons demonstrations. Also interseting but not so historicly accurate either. Although some do carry weapons it is not the norm for these games or others in Wisconsin. Most display claymores and dirks and such at the Clan tents though.

Those are some really great pics...wonderfully catching the flavor and atmosphere of the games!
