The end of the third week at the Department of the Army Police Academy

The end of the third week at the Department of the Army Police Academy and we were all ready for our weekend. I managed to put in eighteen miles of running on my own and even shaved off five minutes from my six mile run Thursday.

The class was split into two squads with first squad going to the driving track for two days and second squad spending two days learning first aid, CPR and the AED. I was happy because I am in second squad which meant that we got to finish out the week driving.

    My baby.

Everyone in the class was basically getting recertified in CPR since we all had previously taken this at one point or another in our respective careers.

The driving track was a nice break and very fun as always. We each were given the opportunity to do two laps for each of the tests / obstacles that we had to negotiate. We did several laps on the wet skid pad with the cadre operating both the gas and breaks. We also did swerve to avoid, slalom, and high speed threshold breaking. I had no problems with any of this as I was trained in Germany to drive the armored Mercedes for the one star general.

    They call me Puerto Rico!

The only negative thing each squad encountered was the fact that we had to share the driving track with the Protective Service Detail School who owned the track and vehicles which hindered some of our training. We also had to wait for thirty minutes while the Sappers did a CH-47 helicopter parachute jump and several of the jumpers managed to land on portions of the track.

    CH-47 over driving track.

    Gaining altitude.

    Sappers away!

If only we had such a police academy, what police we had in France !!! But, the formation is very different. What a pity for us and what an opportunity for "gangsters".....
