    One of the considerations in pleating decisions is how the pleats will swing, open and close when the wearer walks. I think the bright yellow stripe "flashing" as the pleats move would be most appealing. Would it be possible to pin up the tartan that way and then hold it up and wiggle it some? That would give you some idea of how it will look in motion.

    I usually like pleating to the stripe, but in this case I think that it takes too much out of the pattern, and that it would look better pleated to the sett.
