Length of and the tying of garter ties?
Im courious out of all the people on here who have and wear Garter ties what sort of length are they and how do you tie them?
Mine are 30+31 inches respectivly and im finding them too short to follow Matts tutorial in the tutorial section but just tying them round my leg leaves what i think looks like too much hanging below my hose, So i thought id put it out there and see what everyones opinons are i remember someone mentioning it a while back but i cant remember who and i cant find it.
Thanks in advance Jordan

I find that the case for me too, so I found some garters on eBay that have the elastic band but the flashes resemble traditional garters.. I like them a lot.

To be honest, for them to fit me comfortably they have to be atleast 36 inches... I have two pair but my traditional style flash looks like traditional garters without the bulk.

I buy 'woven woollen tape' (1 inch wide), in 1 metre lengths (~39 inches). Cost is 75pence to a pound per metre.

I get mine from an old fashioned 'fent' shop (old Yorkshire word for fabric), but any good fabric shop, where they sell 'notions', ribbons and fancies as additions should sell woven woollen tape.

I'm guessing you have larger-sized calves. From fringe end to fringe end the garters measure 36 inches but from seam to seam only 31"-32". I believe the House of Cheviot makes extra long ones (about 43"-44") or at least they used to. Unfortunately that doesn't fix your situation right now. There is probably a few alternate methods of tying them which should achieve a satisfactory look. I'll experiment on my own and let you know!

I bought some 24" from the Tartan museum, I have very large calf muscles so once around knot it, turn up under and over and they are fine.
