You forgot a wetsuit "pro": Neoprene is sexy. So I propose you try a well-fitting one on in the company of your ravishing wife and let her decide.

    Regards,
    Rex.

I'm on board with this. There are some lovely islands in the Caribbean that could use a little Panache. ith:

Barring that then yes, get the wetsuit.

Chas (who doesn't want a wetsuit)
I fear we will get to see Jamie in a full body cast after he breaks a lot of bones trying to boogie board. I am, after all, a good deaL older than Panache, but I do know that at 41 I did not bounce the way I did at 21. He sounds like a good candidate for a broken hip.

Well, OK then. Broken hip - in a kilt.

    Panache,
I share both passions--I've attained 4 kilts and 6 sporrans over the past two years, but oh...I was so addicted to boogie boarding when I lived in So Cal! And for my 50th b-day I made a special trip back to LA to play in the ocean. Here's why I say "go for the wetsuit"
    1. Experience life fully--you have enough Scots attire to enjoy all the highland events and hiking around where you live, but you'll be limited in your ocean sports without the suit.
    2. I LOVE Santa Cruz (sorry I've neglected to look you up there) and if I lived there I'd probably develop a set of gills.
    3. Catching good waves is a total high, and there are no side effects (unlike, say, whiskey)

With all that being said...make sure your suit and fins don't make you look like a seal! And if you wonder why...go down to the little lighthouse museum on the overlook point and check out the board with the great big teeth marks in it. We love having you on the forum, so avoid those big whites

Finally, remember not to mix-up language conventions. "Dude" and "gnarly" don't see quite as appropriate at highland games

    Robert,

I have seen pictures of you!

I strongly suspect that my 5' 11" frame might not quite fit one of yours, you do have rather noticeable height!

(FYI: To everyone else, Robert is a very, very tall guy!)

I tried but could not summon up any enthusiasm for a wet suit at all.

Perhaps that is becuase there isn't all that much surfing and boogie boarding in the Uk Trefor?

To the best of my knowledge the musical group "The Beach Boys" didn't sing all that much about catching waves down the Thames

    Surfing in the UK?"

The only real question Jamie, is what tartan is the wetsuit going to be?
