I love it when people poke fun at their own team, pretty easy for me actually. I can't help it my entire family was brought up Rangers fans, though my dad born just outside Aberdeen follows them as well.

For what it's worth, I have my All Blacks jersey an today. Good football (soccer) is up there with good rugby.
Clearly you havent you watched the AB's play this year...very, very bad.

not only is that not British, but it's not even the same sport!
There is no other sport, its a religion.

Fair enough... I went to quite a lot of Rangers games as a guy in my dad's work used to get us free tickets. I was brought up a Catholic and at some of the games some of the fans started singing a load of sectarian songs directed towards Catholics - although I could see that some people werent singing. That sort of put me off going to any in the future and was the start of me disliking football in general.
It's the same with most teams - there's always that section of fans that all share the same bigotry and choose to join in with these things at games. Thing is - my aunt is a massive Rangers fan and she's Catholic!

First time I was in Glasgow I wanted to go to the Celtics v. Rangers match, but Arlen, my host during my visit, refused. Ya know--safety concerns!

The Old Firm days are well-dreaded by most in Glasgow! I'm sure there's one coming up this weekend too... but thankfully I'm in Edinburgh til sunday!

I chose St. Mirren, because I like the uniforms. Honestly I don't even follow sports here in the states. I've been a student for nearly 10 years, and haven't gone to one uni game. The tickets are even free! My sisters were in to Ohio State american football and they got season tickets every year they were there. I suppose I'll have to go to a game now.

My old coach / mentor (and occasional tormentor), Scotty O'Neill, was a Glaswegian and a dyed-in-the-wool Celtic fan... our first U-12 youth side under his leadership was named Celtic and he'd rise up out of his grave and hunt me down if I claimed any other allegiance...

Having said that, while living in Atlanta Scotty came to know Willie McIntosh who was a forward for the old NASL Atlanta Chiefs and a staunch Rangers supporter. They allowed as how they'd probably not have met back home, but they met at a dinner at our home and became fast friends. Out of respect for Willie, I won't "officially" choose, although Willie was well aware that my Celtic allegiance had been formed well before I met him.
