Long Goat and Horse Hair Sporrans

The chap in photo #2 seems to be wearing a slightly reworked Argyll and Sutherland Levee Dress sporran. In any case, my question was, is it common for Scottish veterans to wear their regimental sporrans with civilian kit? If these photos are any indication then I will take the answer to be yes.

Once again I must point out that MOST of the sporrans I have shown are not military sporrans. It is quite possible that Lord Caithness served in the RHR, but I'm not sure.

There is no mention of Caithness having served although it would seem likely, given his father's military service in Scotland (I believe he ended his military career as Deputy Commander, the Gordon Highlanders, 1958-65.) He may have been in the TAs, or possibly took a short service commission after finishing his university studies. Not that it really matters all that much-- none of his friends would be all that concerned about the lineage of Caithness's sporran.

Well today is a cool day in Sacramento and I'm about to go out to lunch with my wife and daughter. I'm TOTALLY into the long hair sporran now-Here's a pic as of 2 minutes ago as we're stepping out-

Here's a quick reminder of mine.

That is a wonderful symphony in black and white. To my mind one of the few times white hose work and here they work well.

I completely agree.
I love the sporran... it has a lot of depth for a hair sporran and doesnt look too striking like most. I'll be looking out for one like this in the future

Outside of a guy playing the pipes or banging a drum, they look odd to me!
