I am from a little bit east of you- here's an idea I've been pondering for a while. If one is wearing a very casual day / drinking rig, why not put on the old waist-length Levi's jacket with the kilt?

I believe that a Levi jacket could go well. Check out some of 20th Century Kilts' ideas about modern adaptations of the kilt.
