    End of Week 6!!!

The end of week six was much appreciated by all, as several of us had gotten sick either the previous weekend or after our diagnostic physical training (PT) test. Monday we all showed up at the track at 0515 to do 2 minutes of sit-ups, run 300 meters, do 2 minutes of push-ups, and then run a mile and a half. I did 65 SU, 51 seconds for the 300, did 50 PU, and ran my mile and a half in a respectable 11:33 and came in second place. I am in third place overall for physical fitness. I guess those six mile runs two or four times a week have helped.

After the PT test we spend the majority of the day in the classroom learning about riot control and then did some training on the drill pad using riot batons and improvised riot shields.

    Passing out the equipment.

    Having a little FUN!

    Tuesday

Wednesday morning we spent at the simulated town and cleared three different types of structures that were all part of past police shootings on various military installations.

The green DOT is from the instructor’s laser pointer.

Thursday we spent half of the morning in the classroom and then before lunch we went to the range to do a stress fire course which consisted of doing 20 side-straddle hops AKA jumping jacks, ran 100 meters, did 10 push-ups, and then ran to a low barricade and had to engage on target twice, holster and run to the next barricade of 55 gallon barrels and do the same as before. We then had to clear a tunnel, enter a room and pie the door and engage two targets. During this course of fire we also had to deal with dummy rounds which required us to manipulate our pistol back into action. There was a six foot wooden wall we had to scale clear another room, run to a patrol car engage two targets and rescue a fallen dummy and re-engage the targets. Since I was sick this made the entire course much more difficult and was not as fun as it would have been had I been well. However, I only missed three times and was congratulated by the instructor. We then had to go into the SIMUNITION life fire house and do a one man and two man building clearing.

After the range we returned to the classroom and someone was caught sleeping!

Friday we did hostage response training.

Saturday morning I went and played golf with my classmate and one of his buddies that drove up from Abilene, KS

    Waiting at the tenth tee.

Back at my car I saw this huge spider carrying her young on her back!

Great photos! (everything but that spider, I am afraid that my 10.5 brogan would of made a squishing sound)

Looks like you are progressing very well with your new schooling. Sounds like possibly the worst is behind and the remainder will be honing the skills you have learned to date. Keep your eyes on the goal.

Aw Splash. Momma wolf spider is just trying to take care of the kids. I won't abide a spider in the house but I like having them around outside to keep the bugs down.

Thanks Chris - another great insight into the world of security. The symbol on the riot shields, does it have a function or is it just for intimidation?

    Regards

No, the symbols on the ASP shields are only for training. Normally we would have been using the clear lexon plastic curved shields, but they were not available so the cadre improvised.
