The crux of the problem is that all the Grenadiers were brigaded together. We know that the other Grenadiers retained their Bearskins, so it would seem to be reasonable to assume that the Jocks would retain theirs. The 71st Grenadiers had theirs at Stony Point when they were captured in 1779, but they were still in kilts then.
