Hello and a warm Celtic from the other side of the planet in Boston, Massachusetts, U.S.A. I would check your order and then write to them rather strongly about their error (if it is theirs). If they do not respond favourably in a prompt fashion, contact your card processor for a charge back. Then if they get really on, they can have their product back, when they send you a prepaid return shipping carton.
I believe there are three or four quality kilt shops in Victoria, that being more close by, would be a better shot of getting the desired garment. Like everywhere else, beware, as one shop in Melbourne stocks and sells Heritage of Scotland for their ladies wear. With the significant number of Australians having Scot ancestry, I believe that there are some quality people that should be able to bespoke a great garment for you.

Obviously a failure has occurred at your or their end. What you have got is the "Women's kilt, Billie style". Here you can obviously order any length between 15 and 20 inches. (The picture to the left).
The "Women's kilt" (the picture to the right), however, has a standardized length of 16 inches which is pretty short.
If you have ordered a specific length, they might think you ordered the Billi style kilt?
Have you asked them if it is possible to return the kilt, who ever of you is right?
I have very good experiences with the customer service of Heritage of Scotland.
Hope you'll find a good solution.

FIRST, contact your charge company and put the charge into dispute, if you haven't already passed whatever time limit there is. Then continue trying to sort things out. Once you pass your time limit you have no rights as far as your credit card is concerned. At least that's how it works in the USA.

My experience with Heritage of Scotland was a nightmare! I ordered an 8-yard, made-to-measure, medium weight kilt from them and recieved a five-yard, off-the-peg "casual" kilt. I was furious and contacted them, and was told "medium" means "casual" kilt, and they would not give me a refund on a custom-made kilt.(which, of course, this was not - there weren't even any basting threads on the pleats)
After numrous calls, e-mails and threats, they finally agreed to refund only a portion of my money. I still had to pay $60 duty on the kilt I had returned.
In my opinion, they are dishonest, and anyone doing business with them or any of their other stores should beware. Heritage of Scotland is owned by The Gold Brothers, who also own several other businesses.

My brother lived in Bryan while he was in grad school. He told me that there is more beer sold there per capita than any other US city.

Hi Guys,
I just noticed this thread and would like to provide an update as tartanswede has not been back on the site to let you know what has happened with this.
I have looked into the original order and yes – there was a delay to begin with as the tartan ordered was out of stock and had to be rewoven. Tartanswede was informed of this and told us to go ahead.
However this is not the main concern if the thread as I am aware. We have looked into this and the skirt was made up in the correct style (if you look closely at the website picture you can see that the buckle placement etc. is correct and the correct length is also stated).
The problem is that the kiltmaker (for reasons unknown) decided to position the fabric above the beginning of the wide waistband on the bias instead of straight as it should have been.
We have now spoken at length with tartanswede about this and he has been directed to our colleague who deals directly with the mills and kiltmakers/tailors. His skirt is (as far as we know) on its way back to us now and we will be refunding his return shipping costs, as well as sending out the corrected/replacement skirt urgently at no extra charge of course.
It has been an unfortunate experience on both sides and we will be revamping certain ladies products as they appear on our website to be clearer about the specifications of each garment, as well as speaking with our kiltmakers to ensure they are clear about how each garment needs to be made to fit with our website standards.
If anyone has any other questions regarding this issue I will be happy to help, I would also like to take this chance to state that we have had some issues with our ticketing system in the last week or so which seems to be sorted now but if anyone has tried to mail us and is feeling ignored please let us know by emailing scotlandshop@hotmail.com where my colleague Laura will be happy to help.
