I spent $350 on a bottle of bourbon before, shared it with my closest hunting circle. It still gets discussed regularly, though not always favorably. It was a splurge, we enjoyed it. I am hearing vibes that a cousin is looking into a similarly rare bottle for out November meeting.

    I would not spend $10,000.

I bought a 50 year old (1959 vintage) Cognac for $120, and thought that was too much to actually drink it, so I bought a 28 year old for $80 to share with friends. I had tasted a 40 year old of the same line, and it was fantastic. The younger version was opened last week. Drinkable, but not worth $80. The 1959 bottle had better be good when I decide an event is worthy of it's opening!

I can't imagine spending more than $500 for any bottle! $10,000 or $28,000 or what ever the exchange makes it, is out of the question!

There is a restaurant in Milwaukee that serves a $1,000 martini! It has a diamond in the bottom, but still I'd bet not many are actually served. ;-)
