Ralph Neilson claimed in a reply e-mail on Oct. 7th, that he had sent the two items on Oct. 6th. I'm waiting to see if anything shows up this week via the mail or if Ralph is blowing smoke.

I'll pass this info on to the Chairman of Vending for the Houston Highland Games Association.

Looking at their website, something seemed familiar. Oddly familiar. Oh I see it now.
On the main page, the top left photo is the cover image from the fall-winter Celtic Croft catalog, courtesy of Lochcarron of Scotland, might have permission to use it, but doubtful.
Just below that, the 'rental package' image, the guy in the Prince Charlie, thats from page 7. The sporrans page takes some of the images from the CC website and catalog, the stock numbers end in the same last 2 digits as well. The gentleman on the 'fly plaid' page is on page 7 as well.
Now I'm really starting to smell something. On the kilt packages page, formal, page 7; semi formal, page 28; highlander, page 6; please note that Mr. Highlander is Casual in the CC catalog.

Last Of Order Arrived Today 3 Days Short Of 6 Months
I checked my mail today and there was a package from Scottish Kilt Rental and Clansman Knit wear containing the pair of socks and flashes. Ralph's company did sent it out on Oct. 6th. It arrived today, just 3 days short of six months from when my wife first placed the order. Out of two items, the socks were the right size and okay. The flashes were not. The order was for Irish National Tartan. I have no idea what tartan the flashes are. I was looking through a book my wife recently bought, "Clans & Tartans of Scotland & Ireland" by James MacKay, 2008 at the Irish National Tartan. It was then then I noticed the tartan of the kilt and the sash for my wife were not Irish National Tartan. So Ralph and company sent a simular tartan, not the real McCoy. It was green, white and black. No gold anywhere in this pseudo Irish National Kilt and sash. Well the kilt fits, so I will wear it but I'll be damned if I'll ever do any business with Ralph Neilson and companies. So if you were like my wife and myself with no knowledge of kilts and attending Highland Games for the first time, heaven help you if you run into these slick talking con artists from Scottish Kilt Rental and Clansman Knitwear. I'll get my next kilt from a dealer on this website. ith:

E-mail Sent To Ralph Neilson
Dear Mr. Neilson;
I received the package today with the one pair of socks and the flashes that was mailed out on Oct. 6th, 2009. This was 3 days short of when my wife first placed the order with your vendor on May 16th, 2009 at the Houston Highland Games. Of the order that I received today, the socks were right and fit. That is more than I can say about the flashes. I have no idea what tartan that is but it sure isn't the Irish National Tartan by the House of Edgar. I looked in a book that my wife recently purchased for me, "Clans & Tartans of Scotland & Ireland" by James MacKay, 2008. I looked at the Irish National Tartan and then went to check the kilt and sash your companies sent me in July 2009. Surprise, surprise, they too are not Irish National Tartan by the House of Edgar. This pseudo Irish National Tartan sent to me has no gold in it. What a fraud!!!
Well the kilt fits, so I will wear it and hopefully no one will noticed that its a fake. Its no wonder that your firm has a bad reputation from what I have read on the internet and your customer service is pitiful and slow as molasses. Well fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me. It won't happen again.
Sincerely,
John C Driskill

I too had dealing with this person.
He spoke to me on the phone with a Scottish accent...but it sure sounded put on to me. I didn't get what I asked for. I got no answers to emails and when I got my one reply on the phone it was to tell me he had just gotten back from Scotland from a funeral (which I have been told..he must be like the plague as he has many deaths/many funerals that keep his service slow).
NEVER AGAIN!!!!
Why he is not forbidden to do business is beyond me.

Funny but true. He wants to talk to everyone who does business with his two companies and gets shafted with wrong items and slow or no delivery. I refused to talk to this con man and told him so in an e-mail reply that I listened to enough excuses daily on the job as a police officer and didn't want to hear any whining from him. So he gave up on that part. I can't wait to see the reply if there is any when I get back to work next week from my mini vacation on my company e-mail from Ralph Neilson. Ralph is on Facebook too, I sent him an e-mail in August 2009 about my problems with his firm and he ignored that one too as well as others until this month.
