Thanks Cynthia, I will look for that option. There is a link that takes you to the last post of the discussion, much like the forum threads. Also the name of the last member to post in the discussion is displayed. The discussion can apparently be marked read, but I haven't tried it yet. It is possible to subscribe to the discussion just like a thread from the forum.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

Fortunately it appears that Social Groups are no longer restricted to a single thread. This should be a great help in keeping discussions organized there.
However, the smilies have gone missing. Guess this will require posts be lucid and concise to get a point across ... but where's the fun in that?

Yeah... I discovered that my babbling has to be shortened, too. I seem to recall being able to type a little more in each reply before. That's okay, though!
Everyone who started a group, don't forget to add an icon for the group as well so it'll show up on the "new" groups and the random section.

I know, I was just worrying about the icon. I don't really think I have anything that would work well for a group icon...
It's supposed to be "200 by 200 pixels or 65.535KB."
I do have a picture of the tartan with a bear paw pin, but I don't think it is very good. Maybe I'll put it up temporarily.

I haven't clicked it yet since I'm not sure what it does or if that would be preferable to what's already there (I'd personally prefer a "go to new posts" feature like we have on the board). I just looked in a group I did not create (only a member) and I don't have those options.
However, if it sounds like this feature does do the "latest first" and most of the members in my groups would like it, I would be more than happy to change it if it will help them.
I found a "go to last post" button on the far left of discussion links.
I'm curious, though. What happens if a custodian becomes inactive? Can a social group be reassigned to another member?

Rex.
At any moment you must be prepared to give up who you are today for who you could become tomorrow.

It looks like it, Rex. There is an option to transfer the group.
BTW, I did upload that picture of the tartan swatch as the icon.

Thanks Rex, I think I have the picture, you sent, up as the icon. I might even shrink it more and use it as my avatar.
