Is this another example of the Power of the Kilt?

Having had PRK done myself 5 years back (I wasn't a candidate for LASIK), you will need eye drops to keep your eyes moist - Systane works best for me. Get a couple of the big bottles if you can find it, and carry one with you everywhere. You'll be using them a lot at first. Use them any time your eyes feel scratchy, and DON'T RUB!

It will take a while for your eyes to settle into their final (more or less) focus. It took me about three months all together. Just don't push it. I'm now 20/20, the eye doc said my cornea is crystal clear, and I shouldn't need reading glasses (the cheapie $5 store kind) for a few years.

Thanks, that's reassuring that you've got 20/20 and I've most definitely been using drops like crazy. More importantly though, was there any kilting involved in your recovery?

The only Hanwei I own is the Practical Kung Fu Sword---which I chose because if I squinted right it could pass for a Mongolian sword, and I'm a Genghis Khan nut.

With that said, the general word on Hanwei from the Sword Buyer's Guide forum is that European style blades generally need some sharpening if you'll cut with them, but otherwise mostly sound, and well tempered.

Not really. I did have a pipe band gig during my convalesence, but I don't wear my kilt on a regular basis (I tend to reserve it for special occasions, as I don't have a kilt I'm willing to risk damaging in everyday wear).
