    And on the subject of dress, I rarely go to church and when I do it's to a Catholic Mass where they don't give a rip how you dress, and I NEVER go to formal functions. This strongly implies that I simply don't own any good clothes at all. I do, however, have an elderly tweed jacket. Not a kilt tweed jacket, just a tweed jacket. Would this be appropriate or should I just appear in a nice shirt and tie? And a kilt, of course.

    I think, under the circumstances, shirt & tie is perfectly acceptable. I don't get the feeling that this is a very formal event.

    I'm going to wear my Argyll, but only because I haven't had an excuse to wear it out yet.
