Well, I had a deligthful time at the Kirkin' last evening. I got to meet Dale (The Monk) and his lovely wife, who were able to attend from Ocala.
The service was a fine thing. Five pipers in a small church can be quite stirring! This was only the second year that St. James' has done a Kirkin' service. They did themselves proud and I'm sure that next year it will be even more impressive.
At the reception afterward, the food was plentiful and varied enough to suit all tastes. A delightful (and infinitely patient) young lady demonstrated some highland dance steps.
All in all, I had a great time and I expect I'll be returning next time around.
Dale's got the pic and I expect he'll be posting later. I have a camera, but I'm hopeless.....never remember the blasted thing's in my pocket! Why can't they build a camera that weighs three or four pounds and hangs 'round your neck like a Danforth anchor the way my old Nikon did? I knew that was there!
'A damned ill-conditioned sort of an ape. It had a can of ale at every pot-house on the road, and is reeling drunk. "
