I'm more of a fan of the wool vests JCPenney has had on sale for the last few weeks. I bought a 100% wool basic black vest for $35 and they have a number of blow out items in various twills and checks for a little less than that.
I really don't like dress clothes in cotton twills. Too often the fabric just doesn't lay right. Probably not that bad with a vest, but I've never seen a cotton sportcoat that looked good. They never fit properly or hold their shape like wool. Too often they look like something you slept in.

I wore my new waistcoat from JC Penney for this first time today (sadly not with my kilt) and got many compliments...and one smart@ss asking if i was running for office in 1890.
Has anyone figured out if there's a rhyme or reason to which Targe`s have their vest on clearance and which are just on sale?

Too bad Merona doesn't make my size. I love those waistcoats. Oh well- I'm a big boy, and have to deal with it.

Got one!
After reading this post, I stopped in at Target today and got a tweed-looking vest for just $6.25. Thanks for the tip

Ok if anyone happens to stumble across a target running the sale that has a vest in XXL I would be happy to pay for the vest and shipping if anyone were so inclined to help a fellow kiltie out.

Never mind I'm guessing Nighthawk is looking for the same size I am. In which case then they don't pander to the likes of the men of substance.

Yes I am. They don't even seem to carry them on the website.

You might try the suit/tux separates at Burlington Coat Factory. I picked up a really nice 5-button vest there under $20 a couple months ago. Plan to wear it to a wedding in a week with my kilt. I'll post some pics after!

I stopped into my local Target this past Saturday and all of thier waistcoats were at full retail price (I believe $24). Maybe it's because we're in a cold climate and Target knows that wool vests are still going to sell. Oh well, I'll check again later.
