St. Andrew's Day
Greetings,
Saint Andrew's Day is coming up on November 30. Anybody have any special plans? I'm looking for ideas.

A wee dram or two, kilted of course at the local pub.

St Andrew's Day plans
I think I'll take the day off. Our local St Andrew's society is having a kilted golf tournament. I may host a free lunch for all kilt wearers at some spot here in Lowlife-ville.

I'll be going to our Scottish Country Dance group's St Andrew's day ball. Maybe you could see if there is something similar near you.

I'm heading to Dumfies to stay at Robertson's Ferintosh guesthouse. Will hopefully go a few hikes and get a few pints

I shall be toasting with a dram of Highland Park. That's about it.

No-one in this neck of the woods celebrates, not even the local Scots, so I'll not be going out anywhere. I tried to persuade the landlady of the pub I generally use for eating out to host a Scottish or Tartan themed evening, but the reply was a firm "No! We do not do themed events." I already knew this, but thought it worth a try.
All I will be doing, therefore, is to fly the Saltire from my new flagpole.
Take care,
Ham.

The closest St. Andrew's day event that I know of is almost 2 hours away so I'm going to the new Irish Pub in Bath Maine who knows maybe this time I wont be the only one there in a kilt.

Well, some Scots do celebrate St. Andrew's Day in London. There is a ball at the Banqueting House at Whitehall. It's a pretty nice affair! http://www.standrewsball.co.uk/ I think you'd enjoy yourself, Hamish, although it is sold out for this year.

KM, you don't indicate where you are, but should you happen to be in NYC that weekend, you're welcome to join the NY Metro Rabble for a meet. We'll be hitting the city's Scottish pub (St. Andrew's, of course!) and wandering around midtown.
