A Public Service Announcement on behalf of the Willowy
I would like to point out that though Gerald Butler is muscular and has chiseled good looks he is hardly the be-all, end-all for attractive kilted males.
In fact the more discerning appreciator of male beauty will shun his vulgar display of muscles and seek out instead those of more refined masculinity, those who have a more subtle musculature and proudly display their willowy builds. Whilst the occasional uncultured individual may refer to us as “stick figures”, “scrawny”, and the ever popular “wimps” our lithe builds in fact represent the ideals of speed and the ability to run away quickly from trouble…
err…
That is to say just look at Grant or myself
NO NO NO! Not in the context of running away...
I meant as idealized figures of willowy masculine beauty
We rely on our brains and wit instead of our muscles
Err…
Well at least I do
Anyway on behalf of the stick figures…
Err...
I mean, willowy, yet masculine kilted men
I ask you to think twice before putting too much importance on broad shoulders, big muscles, and ruggedly handsome features
For if you take away those broad shoulders, big muscles, and ruggedly handsome features what are you left with?
Grant and me!
Err... did that come out right? I hope that came out right... ![Shocked](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_eek.gif)

After that last posted picture, Jamie, I believe that a proper G&T should be included in the list of needed kilt accessories. Hendricks of Scotland would be best, methinks...

Yeah, but that's what you get in Hollywood these days.

Sadly the red carpet has seen its fair share of open collars as well as unfolded French cuffs hanging out of the sleeves when wearing a tux, its more about fad than tradition in Hollywood. That being said I think the look would be better with a lighter shirt, probably one of the grays from his kilt.

But Rex, he's wearing a belt with a waistcoat!
And the belt is crooked!
And his sporran is too low!

It pleases many people in this forum that Butler has a kilt on; however, if he's going to wear a kilt, shouldn't he put more of an effort into doing it properly? The open shirt with the Prince Charlie bothers me, as does the fact the apron isn't pressed. His kilt seems a wee bit long, but this may just be the camera angle.
David Tennant, on the other hand, looks very good. Yes, he really should have left the belt at home; however, this is so commonly done in formal wear these days and his overall look is very traditional and respectful of his Scottish traditions. As for the sporran, it is probably just his own preference in wearing it lower, which I personally do not see as mistake.

Overall he's pretty OK. But the sheer tackiness of many Hollywood types never ceases to amaze me. I guess after the really tacky garbage we so often see, the open collar and black shirt aren't so bad.
