And I had a mother who believed firmly that little boys should be out playing in the dirt, not inside cluttering up the living room. Fortunately, back in the '60s we had a lot of dirt to play in. I think I was in my teens before I discovered Porky Pig and the rest of the Looney Toons gang. Still my favourites, because I *get* the cultural references that are there to keep the adults engaged.
Guess I'm just another old pharte.
Interesting to see how other people grew up, though...![Laughing](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_lol.gif)

I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

I can remember watching Howdy Doodie, with Buffalo Bob, Clarabell the clown, Chief Thunderthud, Princess SummerFallWinterSpeing, and, of course, Flubadub.

I was a pre-schooler in the early 1960s, so it was Captain Kangaroo, but Romper Room was for the real small kids, not a grown up kid like me. Howdy Doody was already off, and I think Mr. Roger's Neighborhood was on, but not on the Memphis PBS station. Bozo was a Chicago local show, I think, so I didn't get that either.
Saturday nights it was Fantastic Features with Sivad (strictly local for horrified Memphis kids).
