School's in session
Greetings Students of the Kilt!
The So Cal Hooligans (SCHooligans) will meet again for our monthly kilt night at The Tilted Kilt in Palm Desert, CA on Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009. We'll meet at 5pm, hoist a few, eat a bit, chat about kilts and other interesting things, and call it another great gathering.
We need to get our numbers up to the levels we enjoyed the first few times we met. The more kilties who attend, the more TTK will be willing to do for us. Lately, it's been hard to ask for some considerations with only a handful of people. It's pretty pathetic when a group of bachelorette ladies is larger than a group of kilted men and women in a place called The Tilted Kilt!
Once again, I'll ask some of the Palm Springs Pipe Band members to attend, but it's always at their convenience. And again, they might be more willing to come if we had a large enough group and could pass the hat for them.
Well, maties, I hope I'll see hoards of you there on Nov. 21. Let's make it happen!
Cheers!
John

P.S. Your RSVP helps.

John, as an honourary member (I think!), I much regret that I am unable to boost the attendance figures at your Kilt Nights in Palm Desert by being there myself, but it's a heck of a drive from Storrington!
I will, whilst I am here, take this opportunity to announce that contra to all my expectations and wishes, I will not be taking up 'temporary residence' in Palm Springs early in the New Year, as I did earlier this year. Jim has invited me but, sadly, my reduced pension (and the fact that I have not amassed sufficent Air Miles to make a difference) means that I must remain in the United Kingdom instead. I shall very much miss seeing you all again - what a splendidly memorable welcome you all gave me back in April - but I sincerely hope conditions will allow me to join you all in April 2011.
Have fun on November 21st - I'll be thinking of you - and
Take care,
Ham.

Hey John, missed you at the Scottish Soc lunch today. We talked up the kilt night next Sat and several were interested so it looks as if we will have a better turn out but I don't know how we could have more fun.
I know that Ina, Yolande' and I will be there.

Hi Bruce!
You three will have to carry the banner because I am in the Midwest until after Thanksgiving. Make sure those two ladies behave themselves, and if not, I want you to be right in the middle of it all! LOL!
Have a great time, and think of me cavorting around the Midwest kilted!
Cheers!

Hamish,
I'm sad to hear that I won't get to meet you this Spring. Looks like I'm going to have to fly across the pond to make it happen. Take care!
Cheers!

I will be in Palm Springs for the weekend and will be at the Tilted Kilt on Saturday. The past few months were just too awfully hot to travel and hour and a half in heavy wool, but now that it's cooler weather, I'm getting my energy back. See you all Saturday.

Saturday Night at the Tilted Kilt
We met last night at the Tilted Kilt, just 5 of us. Carl and Judy from the Scottish Society of the Desert showed up, Carl was wearing the Hawaiian tartan.
The Tilted Kilt is louder every time we meet there, it's a sports bar after all. We talked about this and it could be a reason that attendance has fallen these last several months. We voted unanimously to try another location next month, Dec 19. It was decided to meet at:
Lord Fletcher's Inn,
70-385 Highway 111, at Country Club Drive.,
Rancho Mirage, California 92270 (760) 328-1161
There are a number of other places in Palm Springs we can try till we find a home for the Kilt Night.

Well, unfortunately we couldn't make it to the Tilted Kilt Sat nite as we had a family holiday dinner, but the calendar is marked for Lord Fletcher's in Dec.

Lord Fletcher's?! I'll see if some of the ladies from TTK can come hang out! At least for me, of course I hope to make it down there . . .
Also, I think the preferred spot for posting kilt nights/events is now up a few levels on the main page . . . and listed by state. "X-Marks Kilt Nights and Meet ups". Correct me if I'm wrong . . .
Cheers

We missed you last week and the TTK ladies were heartbroken that you weren't there.
I will post the notice under California Kilt nights also.
