Which Tweed?

But in all seriousness, I think both look good and it might just come down to where/when you think you might be wearing the suit (or kilt and waistcoat, I should say) most, perhaps. Dark for winter, light for summer?

...or, which would go better with your favorite kilts. That way, you can mix and match them with the waistcoat. Now there's an idea...

I agree with Noah... I prefer the top one because of the colors. It has more "pop" than the lower one (different from the loud Macleod which, IMHO, has "BANG!"

) And the red lines make bigger squares which to my eye makes it look less "busy."

I'm not a big fan of mixing patterned tweeds with tartans, so it will probably just be worn as a complete outfit most times. Also, I need no excuse to wear it... I'll wear it whatever the season, whatever the occasion.

...for what it's worth, I don't like mixing patterns much, either.

The bottom tweed, though- As a random aside, Lamar Adron Britt bought a waistcoat and jacket in that, and it looks smashing with his Ferguson Britt tartan. I was shocked at how well it went, in fact.

I think they both look quite nice, but if I have to choose just one, I would say the top. No particular reason.

Some people ( women mostly) seem to know when a person ought to wear yellow or not, based on their complexion. I am not one of those people. What I do know is that grey tends to need a lot of texture to look good, especially if it is a consistent shade. Grey flannel looks much richer than grey cotton twill, for instance. Pale grey seems to be the worst of all. My monitor shows the top one as more of a honey-khaki shade, which I prefer.

Oh, also, navy and maroon is more of a 1980s combination ( think about it- everything was hunter green or burgundy or navy blue or some combination) while your top one is closer to the whisky-tones of the past five years- unless it's yellower than I think...

I don't think the top is too "loud" just more "pop" whereas the 2nd looks too busy. I think what's hard is we're looking at a swatch (right word?) and not the big picture. I find with tartan, it's easier to get a feel for it in a kilt, but with a Tweed - not so much. Look at it from a distance vs up close (that helps me anyway) figure out if it's too busy or not, and what it would look like actually as a kilt vs up close and personal.

Since there seems to be a concern of if yellow is your color - you should post pictures of yourself with the fabric
