Talking Sat, Dec 26 - Boxing Day / St Andrew's at Mucky Duck

As a single dad, Boxing Day has become my new Christmas, usually spent at the Mucky Duck with my son over a hot meal. If you are one of the many Houstonians who totally forgot St Andrew's Day in the afterglow of Thanksgiving, The Duck is combining the 2 events this year. Festivities typically start at 12noon with a Pub Mass. Please bring a donation of food, clothing, or blankets in keeping with Boxing Day tradition. Celebrate St Andrew if you're Scottish, the Feast of St Stephen if you're Irish, and Boxing Day if you're English. Come kilted so we can all embarass my teenager. Slainte!

Thanks. I envy Canada for its tight-knit, broad Scottish culture. Many times in my city and state I feel like our little Celtic events were an oasis in the middle of a desert. The Highland games in one of the largest of U.S. cities had struggled for many years without any municipal help and little recognition in the local media.

I'll be in Houston over Christmas visiting the in-laws-to-be. Wonder I can talk my fiancée into this... probably not, but maybe I can use the charity as a "good cause" argument

    Thumbs up

We're gonna try to get to this one. Though we call it 'Wren's Day'.
