I have been there!I have a Dunbar Deluxe long Practice Chanter, that I play with the Abbott reed. It is a loud instrument of itself. I usually drown out anyone else at school. It also takes a lot of pressure to keep the sound even and in tune.

To be able to play in the evenings and not get the head in contact with the spouse's favourite percussion instrument (Frying Skillet). I now switch to a Walsh PC reed. In the Dunbar and a friend's Gibson, we are able to keep a good tune at a very low volume and stay on longer as it barely requires any blow strength. The Abbott in mine and the Gibson reed in his usually results in a very loud performance.

My experience is the Warnock is quiet enough to share some tunes in the living room. The Walsh is just enough quieter that people can converse and not be bothered by my playing in the same room.
