If anyone's going to be in the crowds in the High Street of Auld Reekie (Edinburgh) at midnight on the 31st, remember to lob an empty bottle at the clock on the Tron Kirk and then kiss every lady you can in the mob - including policewomen Anything goes at New Year !

Precisely why Edinburgh would be one of the last places where I would wish to be on Hogmanay night, way too much drunkenness for my liking. I certainly wouldn't want to end up in hospital if I got accidentally hit by one of those stray flying bottles.
Ah well, each to their own.

I must admit I only went to the Tron one New Year. It was dangerous as you say (what goes up must come down) and too blooming cold. I only went because we were going on to a party later. All the other New Years, we were either at someone’s house party (usually student nurses) or at a night-club party or were in a hotel or pub with a promise of a house-party later.
