Homecoming Scotland 2009 - Post Mortem from a Scottish Perspective

Alex, it was a pleasure meeting you in Edinburgh. Thank you for the wonderful report and the always great pictorial.

As an American, my wife and I always wanted to visit Scotland and the Gathering gave us the push we needed. It was an amazing trip to a most beautiful country. Plus, I must echo Alex's comments about new and old friendships. We met up with old friends from the States and made some very good and I hope lasting friends from the Cowal penninsula, our old clan grounds.

We will be returning as soon as I can figure out how to handle a round about. I discovered Scottish drivers have much patience with we crazy tourists.

What a well put together piece Alex, another talent of yours. Unfortunately it has all passed me by due to me not getting my main holiday until this month. Hope to be posting some pics soon.

I was very disappointed not to have been able to go over in 2009.

Our pipe band went in 2007 and went to North Berwick, Bridge of Allan, and the World Pipe Band Championships in Glasgow Green, and we were supposed to go in 2009, but now it looks as if we won't be going until 2011.

So I'm sad to have missed it all, but I do hope to see you there in 2011.
