So, what's a "Native American" then???? A person born in America, or a person of a specific racial genome??
By Choice, not by Birth

I guess it's whoever the PC police say it is. ![Smile](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)
Correct me if I’m wrong but as I understand it, it is not a popular term used by the people for whom it was created and that there is a preference for being known by their tribal clan/group or nation or else generically as Indian – but not Red Indian.
I once saw on TV a reference to a dog as a "Canine American"

I prefer the Canadian term "First Nations".

To prevent friction, I believe we should adopt the London name for Scottish/Scots:- Sweaties, which is shortened Cockney slang meaning sweaty socks = jocks, Scotsmen

After 22 years in the Army, I thought I'd escaped that epithet here in Virginia! Still, I've been called worse.
"O, why the deuce should I repine, and be an ill foreboder?
I'm twenty-three, and five feet nine, I'll go and be a sodger!
