I bought mine! And while I don't expect to win, I'm TOTALLY in favor of supporting this most important of museums!

Lightbulb What if we supply our own fabric?

Matt: If we supply our own fabric, could one get *two* kilts *made* in exchange for the winning ticket? (I ask because it's as likely as my winning that I'd have a length of fabric by then, and I presume that the value of the tartan is roughly equivalent to the cost of tailoring in each of your box-pleated kilts)...

I like to know the rules to the game ;) Might I suggest, also, given the evident popularity of this sweepstakes, that after a certain threshold of tickets have been sold (380?) at the initial price, that the price for further tickets be reduced, from $5 down to $3 or so, to induce a second-wave of raffle purchases...
The spirit of the Declaration of Arbroath (6 April 1320) abides today, defiantly resisting any tyranny that would disarm, disperse and despoil proud people of just morals, determined to keep the means of protecting their families and way of life close at hand.

IMHO, that would not be a good move (in terms of the emotional effect on those who bought chances early). Maybe a discount on multiple tickets?

One of the best gimmicks I've seen for a raffle was giving six tickets for the price of five. That does wonders for sales of a one-dollar raffle ticket; I'm not sure how it applies here. Where I might have ponied up $1, $2, or $3---it induces almost everyone to give $5 each time they buy a ticket.

I will also take advantage of the raffle to try to get another Newsome in my collection.
Well Louisiana winter is about as good as a Canadian summer half of the time! So box pleats are really good for me year-round. Besides, if it's too cold, I'm pulling out the Inverness cape in which case the extra kilt fabric won't really matter. :-)

Being said, I entered my $5 and am considering donating more to the Museum... I think that this is an EXCELLENT idea for the museum to raise money. I'm going to spread the word in my Caledonian Society and hopefully get a few more takers!

    Cool Presumably...

...a delivery surcharge would apply (postage) over-and-above the cost of the ticket. No?

It's not going to keep me from participating in the campaign---quite to the contrary---I'm just in favour of plain language, and informed purchases.
