    cruising in a kilt?

    Greetings,

As stated earlier, we are taking a cruise to Bermuda in April. What experiences have others had cruising while kilted? Any X-Markers gonna be on Bermuda the second week in April?

    Thanks,
    Richard

I have been on several cruises kilter. Everything has been great with one exception. On my most recent cruise I was "red flagged" by security before we departed. They saw my skean dubh in my bag and were concerned about it. They actually thought it was a diving knife. Anyway, they allowed my to board and kept the knife until we left the ship. It was returned to me at the end of the trip. I would leave the skean dubh at home to avoid conflict.

My sgian dhu neverf caused me any problems, but it's been about two years.

However, you will be the most popular guy at dress-up night and any other time you wear your kilt. Just get used to posing for pictures.

And keep it al light hearted. If anyone makes a crack, have a big smile and ready come back at hand.

I've cruised plenty and usually seen at least one kilt onboard each trip. I've never taken one as I am usually diving or climbing/adventuring and prefer better protctive attire for that.

Likewise. Security is much tighter now than it was a few years ago, on cruise ships as everywhere else.
