Many Burns Clubs are men only, or at least that's my understanding. It's not so much that they don't like girls--heck, most guys like girls--it really a matter of tradition and the fact that the tradition dates from the days when such a thing was men-only.
I understand that the Burns Club in Atlanta is a very exclusive group of 100 men, and that no one is invited to join unless someone dies. Or somethig like that. Take a gander at this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burns_Club_Atlanta ,

Can't you just imagine getting the invitation in the mail? Oh, my, old Fartworthy seems to have gone on the that big Burns Supper in the sky. Thank God I can get in the Club now. ![Twisted Evil](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_twisted.gif)
They're a pretty nice bunch from my limited conversation with members at the Stone Mountain Games, but they were pretty quick to let me know there was no sense in sending an application.
But then, maybe it was just me they didn't like!
