Yeah, that's the mental image that I'm getting too... Like this:

Something that young girls might wear at a private, Catholic school...

    GIS for "denim jumper"

Yeah, unless I'm picturing something very different to what you had in mind, I just don't see it happening... At least not without some pretty serious ribbing from others. I'm a fairly liberal thinker and avant-garde dresser, but this seems to be a bit too much even for me... ;-)

I must agree with the others here. Kilts plus overalls/trousers make a negative synergy.

Being from West Virginia, I think that the idea has a certain hillbilly Deliverance-like charm to it.

But I agree with Ron. May be the perfect outfit for blacksmiths and welders. And I'll add glassblowers to the list.

It's already been done. Kilted Carver had one made to wear when he was working. The bib part would fold inside the aprons when he didn't need it.

Woodturners and potters might wear one in the shop, but probably not in public.

I've seen one made, by one of the other "casual kiltmakers" that hang around here or that other board. I think it was made for Kilted Carver, but wouldn't swear to it. IIRC it just has a front bib, like overalls, that can lay flat inside the underapron when not needed. No biggie, just practical thinking.

EDIT: now that I read page 2 of posts (didn't see them at first, sorry, only one cuppa so far) I see that somebody else has already contributed this info. At least I was right about the recipient!
