I too understand and feel your loss. Our four-legged family members are indeed family we choose and they ask so little of us than love and attention. Making that decision was the hardest thing I've ever done. Posting this here is a true measure of the depth of your connection to Lincoln.
Fare thee well, furry friend.

Sorry to hear of your loss. I had to put down my best horse just a few months ago, which was likewise one of the hardest decisions I've ever had to make.
There's nothing easy about it. The fact that you struggled with the decision and mourn your pal means you were a good and responsible owner. That's little consolation, but sometimes there just isn't any way out of it except to mourn.

"There may be such a thing as a perfect home without a well-fed, well-petted, well-loved cat - but where's the proof?" - Mark Twain
There's something about a cat laying around or lurking about a house that just seems right. You're feeling Lincoln's absence now, but it will get better eventually.
My deepest sympathies.

I've never had to do this with a pet before, it was easily the second-hardest decision I've ever had to make in my life. Luckily we live in a very small town and the vet came to the house. Lincoln was a diabetic wonder-cat. He put up with the twice daily regime of insulin shots without making a fuss, and endured the 12-hour ride from our old house to our new home when we moved two years ago. I got him as a 6-week old kitten way back in 1993. Aside from family, he's the longest relationship I've ever had. He even pre-dates my wife! LOL Anyway...just needed to get this off my shoulders. Here's a pic of Lincoln taken about a year ago, showing off a bit of his trademark "catittude".
Hi, Excuse me if I don't make any sense. I love animals but cats are an incredible creation. My pets have always been tightly interwoven in my life and their death is a terrible sorrow indeed. That unconditional love is great. I believe in providing the best life we can for our pets-they are not disposable-and I know you have done the same. Be happy he had a good home when so many do not. My very warmest regards and sympathy.
