Before I started wearing a kilt I used red braces to hold my trousers up in preference to a belt. I think Americans call them suspenders. Still, I became known in the Ceroc dancing world as the man with the red braces. To the point that several times ladies that I danced with frequently didn't recognise me on the street as the braces were under my coat.
I am not at all sure that I am very happy about that especially since now I am known as the man in the kilt. Since I wear the kilt full time, no-one has not recognised me, if you see what I mean.
But that does beg the question, if I every wore trousers again, would anyone recognise me?

In my very little burb (more horses then people) people call me the kilt guy and always ask where it is if I'm not wearing one. I just tell them that I have to do laundry, too, sometimes. It's funny, I never thought people would question why I have p@nts on.

We have a group in our churcch for empty nesters. I always wear my kilt to these events. This year, the SuperBowl party was moved from it's regular location to another and then canceled due to the snow storm. I really felt strange not wearing the kilt during the game. We watched it at home this year with our next door neighbors. But then, I felt strange watching the game without the rest of the group.

I've worn pants to work more than my kilt but after I've worn the kilt a few times and then have gone back to the pants everyone asks where the kilt is... especially when the the weather is very windy or very cold.

What if you wore the red braces with the Kilt? Would people recognize you? Would 2+2 go together?

I meet my classmates every month for dinner, drinks and art.
They (especially the females) look disappointed when I come
to the restaurant unkilted. Kilted men are the life of the
party.

I visited a small village in Gloustershire for the day in June 2008 and wore a kilt. It was late September 2009 when I next visited wearing trousers, and not a few people came up to me and said "where's your kilt then"!

"I find it helps in fostering a good relationship with merchants and other business contacts The kilt automatically sets you apart around here, which makes you easier to remember, and of one is polite and cheerful, nearly everyone responds in kind. This in turn makes an on-going relationship of any kind more pleasant, and more likely to succeed." Howard Clark
I agree Howard. I find that the recognition leads to better and more personal service. I am kilted most of the time when I leave the house and am recognized for that fact. They may not know my name and thats ok, its the service that counts.
I have been asked "Wheres your kilt?' many times when I am wearing p@nts or shorts. The answer varies with the situation.

i just see my kilt in a similar way as some may think of a good suit ,
i tend to just wear it for special occasions and with it being the most expensive item of clothing Ive bought in my life i wouldn't wear it all the time , i prefer my baggie/flares for daily out and about clothing
