Only thing I was wondering about the v-neck that it would be a military one. I'm not a sweater wearer so my sweaters have to do double duty. With all the patches would it be appropriate? Mind you this is just a web sample. Mine wouldn't have the shoulder patch.

Without the badges those are standard issue to the "country set" over here. They go very well with the kilt.

I agree with Jock Scot. I think that style of sweater goes with the kilt better than any other style, when a shirt/tie are going to be worn with it. It just looks "right".

I think it'll look good. When you mentioned horses, I pictured something utilitarian but elegant, if that makes any sense...the sort of clothing a gentleman might wear if he were heading out to the field to do some recreational shooting.

x2 no belt, and plain sporran...if it were I, and I had the clothing (which I do not), it'd be brown shoes (not laced up the calves) and sporran, plain, solid color hose, the usual ties, and a sweater or sport jacket...there's a set of photos around here of some British Isles royalty & associates...something like that.

Jock Scot's suggestions need no further elaboration. I would choose not to wear a belt.

The belt is a bit of extra security and will be covered by the sweater. It would just be a standard jean's belt. Nothing fancy or with a big buckle.

Right now most of what I have is black tones. I've only started getting the accessories and have been concentrating on a black set. It will take a while to get a brown set as well.

Jim, I wore a belt with my kilt at the weekend there, and it wasnt noticeable as it was under my jumper. Wear one if you please... if you're wearing a black jumper it wont be seen at all.

Nearly there! The top half looks good for both occasions, although to dress down a tad take the tie off and undo the top button of the shirt and spread the shirt collar over the outside of the sweater. The bottom half is nearly there too, just raise the kilt a tad so that the bottom of the kilt is no lower than the centre of the knee cap. I would actually prefer to see the kilt raised to the top of the knee cap, but perhaps that is asking too much for now. Oh and smile, laugh even! Good luck and have fun.

I agree with Jock here, and I think the outfit looks good colour-wise!
