Redshank,
I don't know who will win this competition, but I want my next vacation to be wherever your photos are from. Beautiful.

Photoshop a guy wearing a kilt into either of these and it will be hard to beat. Simply gorgeous and exactly the photo I would have submitted...if I were any kind of photographer
My heart's in the Highlands, my heart is not here,
My heart's in the Highlands a-chasing the deer -
A-chasing the wild deer, and following the roe;
My heart's in the Highlands, wherever I go.

Though not up to the works of art that some have posted, here is my humble attempt.

Down the left, the flags of the seven celtic nations, to the right, a somewhat ghostly piper.

I think Redshank has hit on something with his picture of Ern wearing the XMTS tartan. If there is to be a recognizable kilt in the photo, what better than our own clan tartan? Posting any other recognizable tartan is bound to cause issues (even if people are guessing at a barely/not recognizable sett!).
That specific picture might not be the perfect one, but I heartily recommend that if any kilt is shown, it be an XMTS.
