Horrible throught the lens of a camcorder....but I actually like that rendition on their album. I've never heard them live but might try to get over to the Loon Mtn games in New Hampshire this year. "Saor Patrol" has a similar style...

I really do not care Albannach very much. I have had to listen to that drum pounding too many times while vending at the games to enjoy them. If you would like to hear some very good traditional Scottish tunes, played in a rather hard-driving (at times) and fun style, try the Tannahill Weavers. Except for a short time and one album, when they added a Canadian who played electric guitar and wrote a couple of tunes, they have stayed true to the traditional. They are not going to be in kilts, but you will enjoy them and will have heard some very good music. I am trying to get the Don Gibson Theater here in Shelby to bring them in at some point. They are acoustic except for the keyboard played by cousin Les Wilson. Another good traditional Scottish group is the Battlefield Band, although they sometimes vary their program with modern material.

I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one who is not impressed by Albannach. Some on here treat such talk as blasphemy.

Hey! If you don't like them, you don't like them. I think they play with great energy, and I enjoy them, but that's me.

I gotta go with ya here. I saw them at a Renaissance Festival, and for all three shows both days (three shows a day) it was the exact same three tunes. Good and exciting for the first time, but can get annoying to musicians and people who know better. But they are excellent in moderation.

    But yes...very post-apocalyptic....maybe a Scottish "Road warrior"?

Of course not historical, as Matt N. and others rightly point out, but...I think the look is kind of cool. It's unusual to see the belted plaid worn in a contemporary way, and likewise unusual to see great kilts in a popular culture venue. So I say, "three cheers!" And they might give me the courage to wear my belted plaid with a black tee shirt
